Laura Montenovo

Welcome to my website!

I am an applied public policy researcher with interests primarily in labor economics and public finance. In my dissertation, I adopt quasi-experimental designs to explore how labor market reforms impact the performance and dynamics of both workers and firms. Moreover, I estimate the effects of changes in employment insurance generosity on internal migration. My work has been published in Demography and in Contemporary Economic Policy

I joined Purdue University’s Department of Agricultural Economics as an Assistant Professor in August 2023. In May of the same year, I received my Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Indiana University's O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Prior to my doctoral program, I completed a M.S. in Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. In addition, I earned a B.A. in Economics and Management from Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy, and a B.S. in Economics from Georgia State University.
